Vintage Mixed Media Abstract Female Figure Framed George Johanson

Colorful, gestural, and psychological work of art by PNW Artist, George Johanson (1928-2022). Studying at the Museum Art School in Portland, Johanson enhanced his already present talent for creating art under the tutelage and guidance of artists like Jack McLarty. Prior to the 1960s, Johanson's style was rooted in Abstract Expressionism. This particular mixed media drawing was done as he was experimenting more with figural elements and is dated 1967. In his lifetime, he also studied in New York and London, taught classes, worked in a variety of mediums, and participated in over 60 solo exhibitions.
