Reproduction Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) "Conspiracy" Framed Artist Print

A reprint of the rejected first version of Käthe Kollwitz's "Conspiracy" print (original etching created 1893-1897). The print was drafted as part of "A Weavers' Revolt" cycle after being inspired by a play called "The Weavers" by Gerhart Hauptmann. Though the play was based on the Weavers Revolt of 1844, Kolwitz's depictions were crafted purely by her inspired notions. This series of work was show at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition of 1898 where Kaiser Wilhelm II refused Kollwitz a medal as her subject matter was considered subversive at the time. Reprinted between 1950-1980, this print captures a unique part of history. Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) practiced creating art her whole life. She grew up in Germany and watched her country change.
